Who wants to have hardwood flooring installed in their living rooms or dining area? I, for one, want to have wood floors at home. That is my dream home. But what’s stopping me from calling those floor contractors is the price. With great quality comes even greater expense – this holds true when wooden floors are the issue. I am not a millionaire but like everybody else, I want the best value for my money.
OK, so I signed my name in blood on the lease agreement and the space was mine for the next two years, succeed or fail. It was a large single room, about 1600 square feet, with a small storage area and two restrooms in the back. The floor was painted concrete, the walls were an odd shade of orange, half the lights didn’t work, and there was no hot water or air conditioning. And that was just scratching the surface. There were a few dozen other things that would have to be repaired or installed before I could move in.
The Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting rule was passed in an effort to help prevent lead poisoning in children and at-risk adults. This new law requires renovators and remodelers working in homes or child-occupied facilities (schools, daycares, etc.) built before 1978 to become certified in lead-safe practices by attending an EPA-accredited training program. This course must be completed by Dec. 31. Wood engineered hardwoods will be affected when dealing with baseboards, and possibly the wood flooring itself if it previously had been painted or stained.
When you are planning on laminate flooring installation, you can have the laminate floor installed in different rooms in the house. Because of the water resistant characteristic that it has, you can have it installed in the bathroom and also in the kitchen. A lot of water usually splashes on the floor, and it will not get damaged easily. Always make sure that you have it dried after every use.
Gapping: Hardwood flooring undergoes changes with changes in season or relative humidity within the home, often leading to gapping in the floors. Gapping can also be a result of the negligence of the installer who overlooked the importance of keeping the floors tight during the installation.
Sometimes this auto-suspicion is expressed by checks being withheld, contractors paying for work out of their own pocket, or schedules being flopped around on contractors without much thought. Once in a while it’s expressed by poor treatment, with suspicion and a dash of hostility, from the get-go.
Some dirt and contaminants, like fats and oils, respond to alkaline-type cleaners while, some dirt and contaminants, like rust and minerals, respond to acidic-type cleaners. So, two separate cleanings may be required for the different types of dirt, followed by a good scrub rinse to stop the chemical action.
Re-apply your baseboards, floating over the top of the tile and connected to the wall. Baseboards serve to dress a room, but they also serve to conceal the floors expansion gaps under the baseboards. That’s why they connect to the wall, but not the floor.
